As the system is Internet based,
it is possible for patient data to be stored in one location and retrieved in
another. This means that the patient's complete medical history is with them
wherever they are and, through a secure set of permissions, can be made
available to authorized medical workers who might need to view the patients
data, even from a remote location.
In practice, this means that a
patient is not forced to visit the same clinic for every visit. Whichever
clinic the patient goes to will have access to all of the data relative to that
patient. Also, if the doctor or nurse who is consulting the patient requires
specialist assistance, the specialist can view the patient's data online, from
wherever the specialist is, and give the doctor or nurse their input through
the system. This has the effect of allowing clinics to have real-time access to
specialists without the specialist needing to be at the clinic. In this way,
one specialist can service multiple clinics.
The You-track system has the
facility to compare patient test results with predefined norms for those tests
and, if out of range, to automatically flag the test and send the results to
the required specialist for further review.
In the same way, when clinical
assessment forms are completed on the system, those forms are automatically
analyzed and if the analysis shows that the assessment needs further review,
the assessment together with the relative patient information is automatically
sent to the designated specialist.
The system can be configured to
automatically remind the patient of upcoming appointments. This is done by a
text message to the patient's mobile phone.
Appointment information and procedural compliance data is stored on the system
and made available to the doctor or nurse at time of consultation. This allows
the medical officer to assess the patient's compliance to the prescribed
procedures and to advise the patient accordingly.
