You-know is part of the You-asked system that is
a web based system with various applications.
Ownership of the You-asked system is held by
AufGK Limited, a Mauritian company. The South African operation is authorized
by a licensing agreement to market and distribute the system.
You-know comprises a sophisticated Web-based and
cellphone-enabled knowledge management system which uses a unique phonetic
search engine to access information. You-asked defines knowledge management as
the collection, organization and distribution of knowledge to selected target
market. The system has been designed in such a way as to allow the efficient
transfer of information or knowledge between users, both business and
individual.
The You-know knowledge management system allows
for any registered user to ask a question in any of the organization-specific
categories. When a question is asked, it is either automatically answered by
the system in real time or assigned to an administrator of the particular
category. The category administrator then answers the question and it is stored
in the database. This ensures that when a similar question is asked in the
future, an answer is automatically provided by the system. The linking of
questions phrased in a dissimilar way, but seeking the same answer to the new
question is achieved by the system’s sophisticated phonetic search engine.
As the system is Web-based, it allows access to
the knowledge base from anywhere, at any time, provided the user has Internet
connectivity.
the system has the ability to allow the
questioner to attach any relevant document to their request or the answerer to
do the same in order to enhance their explanation. In addition, the system has
an embedded alarm system to notify the answerer that the service level agreed
time allowed to answer a particular question is about to expire. Using this
system to send and receive all instructions and communications between parties
creates a logical, controlled flow of information between parties and
facilitates task management at all levels in the organization.
Using this methodology, an organization can
create and preserve its intellectual capital by utilizing the You-know
knowledge management system to create a database of information which can be
accessed by customers, suppliers and staff from anywhere, at any time, thus
eliminating the normal repetitive process of answering frequently asked
questions.
most companies create, have access to, and use
vast quantities of knowledge, but seldom efficiently of effectively. In
addition, although most managers agree that managing knowledge is important,
few of them can articulate what the value is to the company, or how the company
can change to become learning, teaching or coaching organization. All too
often, knowledge exists with multiple points of view instead of collective best
thinking. Normally not easily accessible and as a result, not extensively used.
the majority of companies have their knowledge
embedded in people. It is often intuitive and tacit, rather than explicit, and
is rarely detailed enough to be especially valuable. Such knowledge often gets
lost when someone leaves the company.
theYou-know system can be effectively used to
collect, organize and distribute knowledge – both explicit and tacit – though
out the organization. Learning is a perpetual process that occurs throughout
people’s lives, and involves an individual assimilating knowledge and applying
it. Teaching and training, however, is often historically and negatively
associated with the classroom environment, in which learners have information
unwillingly imposed upon them.You-know can be used to ask questions in
the area where the learning or training need exist and the relevant information
can be made available via the answers from the system.
You-know has been developed and brought to market
via an agreement involving AufGK, Business Communications Portal Limited and YA
Procurement and Distribution (Pty) Ltd. You-know is marketed exclusively in
Southern Africa by YA Procurement and Distribution. For more information on the
